    MIDWIFE

I am a graduate of Toronto Metropolitan University's (previously Ryerson University) Midwifery Education Program (2019), where I earned my Bachelor of Health Sciences in Midwifery. Additionally, I hold a Master's degree in Health Promotion from the University of Toronto. Before entering the field of midwifery, I spent 18 years working as a public health nurse. Throughout my career, I gained extensive experience in early parenting, childhood development, and mental health.

Since 2009, I have been an internationally licensed lactation consultant. In my free time, I enjoy raising chickens and share my life with my partner and three children, all of whom were born with the assistance of midwives.

  • Kirsten, R.M.

    MIDWIFE

I have been privileged to work as a midwife in urban centers and remote Indigenous villages in northern Ontario and Nunavik.

Witnessing the transformative journey from individual to parent during pregnancy and birth is truly fascinating to me. I am passionate about ensuring that the process is holistic and empowering. My expertise lies in perinatal mental health, postpartum mood disorders, birth trauma, and bereavement. I maintain up-to-date certifications in neonatal resuscitation, CPR, and Emergency Skills through regular attendance at workshops, hospital rounds, and peer reviews.

Prior to midwifery, I dedicated over twenty years to community health, specifically advocating for LGBTQ+, newcomers, Indigenous, homeless, and substance using individuals to ensure equitable access to healthcare. I hold a Master's degree in health education with a focus on spiritual health and support.

lidentify as Queer. I live with my partner and three almost adult children and two dogs. When I'm not working in Lindsay, I can be found working in remote areas of Canada and internationally. love to travel and eat great food.

  • Elaina, R.M.

    MIDWIFE

I have been a practicing midwife since 2004. My midwifery journey began when I was 4 years old and witnessed the home birth of my sister.  I grew up wanting to be a part of that life-changing event and came to learn I could support people as a midwife to realize their true power through childbirth.  Every birth I attend is a privilege and an honour.  Most of my career has been in Durham region with hospital privileges at Markham Stouffville Hospital (now Oak Valley Health).  I am also a part time Hospitalist at the Alongside Midwifery Unit at Oak Valley Health. Although I no longer work as a community midwife with my own client caseload I enjoy providing regular locum coverage for Monarch Midwives and support in Lindsay as needed.

I am a parent of four children, all born at home and a grandmother of one! I love to garden, cycle, camp, cook, preserve and eat.  I have learned the importance of taking the time to truly enjoy family, food and love.

    MIDWIFE

I’m Steph and I’m super stoked to be joining Monarch Midwives in the fall! I have lived and worked in Durham for 20+ years in a wide range of midwifery and education roles. In my non-work life, I love to teach yoga and live in, or on the water at our family cottage.

Excited to meet you all soon!

  • Sarah

    STUDENT

My name is Sarah and I am incredibly honoured to be doing my placement at Monarch Midwives.

Before coming into the midwifery program at TMU, I studied kinesiology at the University of Waterloo. I initially became interested in midwifery after realizing systematic gaps in quality reproductive healthy in the global west. I have now come to cherish midwifery’s approach to continuity of care and how the profession supports individual client choice.

I strongly believe that empowerment starts at birth, and love you midwifery care supports this special time for parent and baby alike.

In my free time you can find me going for runs and spending time outside, or cozying up inside with a good book.

  • Lisa

    ADMINISTRATOR

I joined Midwives of Lindsay in January of 2008 after being a stay at home Mom for 13 years.

I have a degree in Sociology and Psychology and a Volunteer Management certificate. For several years I put this educational knowledge to use in Volunteer Management positions with the Ross Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

From springtime through fall, I enjoy the solitude of tending my flower and vegetable gardens, and while winter is my least favourite season, I do enjoy daily walks through the snow covered woods and farm fields with my husband and golden retriever.

As the proud Mom of grown daughters Lyndsay and Latashya and son Landyn, I know how exciting and rewarding it is to bring a new life into the world. I look forward to welcoming you to our clinic and playing a small role in your journey to parenthood.
